It's a song by Kesha. What does "go hardcore" mean?

Hardcore has several meanings. I don't know who Kesha is so...

Hardcore pornography is fully explicit pornography(vs. softcore).

Hardcore can mean extreme.

ex. This shooter game is hardcore! My dedication to pasta is hardcore!

Hardcore also describes several styles of music. There's hardcore punk and hardcore techno.

Anyway, "go hardcore" can mean "go to the extreme" or it can be a reference to dancing in a club.

If I invited somebody to my party and said "Come to my party. You can go hardcore", would I be clearly understood?

I would have no idea what you meant.

NOT A TEACHER.

You could say, "Come to my party; it'll be hardcore."

As Jasmin165 said, you can say "It'll be hardcore", but this is not used by all speakers. Not to sound ageist, but older people probably wouldn't say this. This usage is idiomatic to some groups like, for example, younger people, gamers, etc.

If my mum said it, I would sound funny coming from her!

Looking at the lyrics, I think she's talking about a live sex show.

My god, I looked at the lyrics too.... I'm sure there's definitely sexual meaning in it but it sounds more like a rave (do kids do raves nowadays or am I dating myself?). I wouldn't do any deep analysis of those lyrics though.

I'm constrained by "If you don't have anything nice to say" statutes but she spells her name Ke$ha and is currently on the $leazy tour, about which she had this to say:

"My spring tour sold out so fast, which is amazing, but I want to get to party with errryone. If you are part of my family, my cult of rowdy misfits, come join us!" Ke$ha said in a grammatically adventurous statement on Monday (April 4). "I'm pulling out an ass-ton more glitter with blue lipstick to spare and I'm ready to party with all y'all all summer long. Sh--'s gonna be hot as a mofo ... Miss this and you be missing the biggest dance party of the year!"

She's also unable to sing without an auto-tuner... I think I'd better stop.

With respect to slang, unless it is part of your "cultural reality, or identity" or so popular that just about everyone uses it (for example what's up? waddup? as hello), I would avoid using it if you want to sound authentic or natural.

Of course if you want to say hardcore, then say it. But it helps if you understand what you are saying and how to use it. A lot of slang used in popular media is really a marketing gimmick anyway (like Ke$ha - originally interested in being a country music artist) and that kind of slang you just got to sell it or own it.

I agree hardcore generally just means (vaguely) extreme the authentic/real part of the meaning isn't as important here.

Have fun at your party;-)
You should also make sure your meaning of hardcore is the same as your guests or there may be some surprises!

I'd interpret it as an invitation to behave wildly and badly. :drinking::silly::multi::cheers::twisted::bday:

I clicked on the link.

Not what I think of when one says "hardcore". :-?:-D

The 80s were innocent times!

By the way, I'm aware of the irony of decrying Ke$ha's language ability in one post and then posting a song that uses "party" as a verb in the next.

I don't care, I'm hardcore like that.
