personal letters+signature

Is it necessary for a personal letter (friendly letters) to have a signature? Does it make a difference if it is handwritten or typed if you put your signature or not?
In my book I have Type or print your name . The handwritten singnature goes above this line and below the complimentary close. But in the samples there is no place for signatre.

In an informal, personal letter, you should close with a handwritten signature only.

That doesn't have to be your full signature- just the first name will do.

And sorry isn't it important if you type it or not? I mean if you type your letter do you need your signature besides writing your name in an informal and formal personal letters? And if it is handwritten does it make any difference if it is formal or informal?

Whether you write your letter by hand or type it, your signature should always be handwritten. It doesn't matter how formal or informal the letter is.

OK. I mean for example:

Sincerely yours,
signature
Bob

or

Sincerely yours,
Bob

or both can be correct?

If it is an informal, friendly letter, type the "Sincerely yours," part but do not type your name. Just sign "Bob" under it.

If it's slightly more formal and you want to sign your first and last name, you can do that too.

If it's slighloy more formal and you want to type your name under your signature then you must obviously leave some room for your signature. It goes ABOVE the typed name.
