If he is a complete beginner (he knows no words at all) then he really will have to get an actual live teacher. It will be pretty much impossible for him to learn any other way unless he can find a grammar book for total beginners. Does he already know about grammar?

Of Course, He can't remember grammars without opening the notebook which shows him how to use !

I simply meant "Does he already know terms such as 'noun', 'adjective' etc?" Learning a language is very difficult if those terms are unfamiliar. However, if he still has to look in a notebook to remind himself of grammar terms, then he is starting at a disadvantage. I definitely think he needs to hire a teacher or join a class for complete beginners.

Yes, Thank you for replying.
He doesn't know how to use 'noun' or 'adj',... he only knows some very simple words such as love, hate, go, stand, sit, or chicken and cat, dog... and you are sure that He needs to join a beginner class?

It will be very difficult for him to learn English from a book at home if he does not know the grammar terms. Those terms are used in almost all language-teaching books.

I think that your friend's best chance of learning the basics is by going to classes for absolute beginners.

Yes, Thank you very much. However, do you think he can learn English from the Internet ?

It may be possible, but people who already have some knowledge of English will be able to benefit from the Internet more, which is why some beginner classes are a good idea.
