Using the phrase leave out or keep out?

1) My mom told me to leave some carrots out and keep the remainder in the cooler because she still wants to eat them. ( Can I say leave out?t or I should say keep out?)

2) The scenerio/the situation is exactly the same as you thought. ( Is this sentence understandable?).
