Why is it, if you wish to limit your viewing to, say, Ask A Teacher forum, that whether you press New Posts in the top horizontal bar, or in the left-hand column, you are plunged into the mix of questions from all the forums? How can you stick with ongoing/new threads for one forum only?
I've never tried it and couldn't find anything that just fitted, but you could sould subscirbe to that particular forum http://www.usingenglish.com/forum/su...bscription&f=8 (the link is in Forum Tools at the top of the posts on the right)
Then Subscribed threads in Quick Links should cut out a lot of the clutter.
Love work-arounds!
Thanks.
Just use the URL Ask a Teacher - UsingEnglish.com ESL Forum
And reload it constantly.
In addition to Tdol's solution (which is a good one), you could use the advanced search feature from the "Search This Forum" menu in Ask a Teacher (UsingEnglish.com ESL Forum - Search Forums). This allows you to select from various options, including a "Find Posts from [Date] and Newer" option.
If you are aware of the forum's ID number then you can create links like http://www.usingenglish.com/forum/se...?do=getnew&f=8 to show you what's new in a forum by changing the f=8 bit.
Lastly, you can subscribe by RSS via UsingEnglish.com ESL RSS Feeds.

Alternatively, you can just use the URL for the individual forum, and press the reload button whenever you like.
Yes you could, but that would list all posts in the forum regardless of whether they were new or not. As such, your advice doesn't go towards answering the question posed. Given that this is the support forum, I thought I'd offer some support and alternatives. Feel free to use whichever method suits you.

Thanks for that. I thought they were chronological, with newest at the top. In any case, I think David has enough information to do as he hopes.
