Switch Editor Mode
Hello guys,
I would like to know your opinion about this feature.
In case you don't know about it:

This option turns off all the codes that allow us to modify our posts.
Things like:
Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi
Usually you don't see the actual codes.
In that case, the codes would be:
- Look at the screenshot, please! -
Of course you don't have to type all those codes because you have a bar here.
(Not sure if "bar" is the correct word...)
Anyway, there is one big problem by using this feature:
Many threads are written in an uncomfortable font and font size.
Example: http://www.usingenglish.com/forum/as...-my-essay.html
I'm 90% sure the thread creator did not mean to make it this way.
It happens because of this option.
When you copy a text (from elsewhere) and post it on UsingEnglish, the forums simply apply the text.
If the feature (in switch editor mode) is changed, all the posts would use the standard font+size (like my text here) by default.
(After they get pasted.)
So if a member really wants to change something, s/he can simply use the bar in order to change everything.
And if a member wants to post the text exactly as it is, s/he can turn on the feature.
What do you think?
Cheers!

Re: Switch Editor Mode
Quite often, this happens when people copy and paste from Word or a similar application. If you look at the HTML version of what they post, there is often a lot of extra code that has come with the text.

Re: Switch Editor Mode
Yes, but I think this feature could have more disadvantages than advantages.
By turning it off the forums would automatically remove all the unnecessary code, wouldn't they?
Cheers!
