Default Server Needs a Supercharge

Recently the forum software has been lagging. It can take quite a while to download a page and then there is another lag before it is displayed. I am on 36M ADSL (and I live close to the terminal).

Perhaps your server is overloaded and you should upgrade to a new one?

Hmmm, I wonder what could be causing that. Our server load averages are consistently below 3, and often below 1. Currently they are: 1.07 0.62 0.49 with 143 Users Online (6 members and 137 guests).

It's not our server.

Well, it's not my dual 3.2 Pentium several-gigs-of-everything-custom-made-bigboy-box-on-36MDSL either

Often lag on a server is from time accessing a database. I can't see your stats, but this site often has several hundred users browsing it at once so I imagine that is the cause. I don't know what can be done about it, though.

EDIT>> Oops, you did post your stats. Ah well, I have no idea then.

Mind you, we may be moving to a new server soon.
Dual 3.2? - well, that's the problem then.

Hi!!
I add that I've been having this problem quite a long time. That's what I don't enter as frequently as I did before.
I have 2,4 mbps ADSL and pages here last too much time to download. I don't enter because I'm not patience!

Cheers

I don't think it is the downloading that is the problem. I think the problem is that the server is overloaded trying to do hundreds of database searches at once.

I think (i'm not sure) that if the whole forum needed registrtation to access, this wouldn't happen. As far as i know that number of guests needs a lot of Bandwidth. Or at list to forbid guests to post threads.

The site is now on a new server, so let us know if it's any faster. I'm on a ridiculously fast Japanese connection, so I don't see any problem.
