I couldn't work out how to do that either- I hope Red5 has an idea about that.
I'm sure I'm being dim and just missing it but can anyone tell me how I can tell my profile to block incoming friend requests. I don't want to use that facility of the site at all but I don't seem to be able to stop people sending the requests through, and then I have to decline/delete the request.
Remember - correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing make posts much easier to read.

What I did for a time was put a generic 'Thanks but no thanks' post in my VMs. Unfortunately, people leave other VMs, which displace mine; so it's necessary to re-post it once in a while.
But for the last few months I've stopped botheringI hope Red5 comes up with something.

I don't want to refuse requests, but I don't think I should accept them because that introduces bias, so a clean solution would be great.
I have to do things like make admin decisions and even ban people, so accepting friend requests may affect this- I am not saying that it is a general bias. Sorry if I didn't explain myself.
Like Bob, I have a "Please note that I feel flattered when I receive the occasional friendship request, but I have to decline. I have no wish to offend anybody, but I am not a believer in forum friendships."
Some people do not notice this, and still request friendship. I used to PM people who sent requests, repeating that message. Now I just click on 'decline'. They request - I decline. No offence is intended; I hope none is taken.

My one exception to this is people whose posts I have come to respect. If they request friendship, I forgive their not noticing my VM message (they may not even have been aware that the VM thingy exists); I still PM them. I can't be a**ed with people who request my friendship two minutes after joining the forum.
