| I used "<>" (wrap HTML tags around selected text) and in that I used <font color="green"> text to be colored </font> but it did not work. Could you please tell me how to color the text? It would be nice if the tools contain a color palette for selecting a color. Thanks Last edited by englishstudent; 12-Sep-2006 at 19:53. Reason: corrected spelling |

| There's a button at the top of the editor for colour- highlight the text and choose the colour. It doesn't use straight html tags, but bb ones, which have [] around them- bold- I did this manually with <b> </b> replaced with the square brackets. |

in Firefox!! So I assumed they don't exist. I used another browser and was able to see the menu for color and font size. Thanks. But since I don't use the other browser (maxthon), I need to learn how to do it in firefox. [red] test [/red] |

| That's strange- I use Firefox and I get the full editor, though most of the time I use Quick Reply and add the code. It's COLOR="Red" and /COLOR in the square brackets. |

| There is a toolbar above the box I am typing in right now. The fourth tool is a large capital "A" with a bold black line under it. Click on that box, select a color, and you should be able to type colored text. |

| Are you using 'Quick Reply'? If so, you are not getting all the features. Try clicking on 'Quote' or 'Post Reply' to get the Advanced Editor. Help about vbCode is available here: http://www.usingenglish.com/forum/misc.php?do=bbcode |

| Tdol, thanks for the reminder about the square brackets. mykwyner, I understand what you are saying, but I am not able to see the large capital "A" with a bold line under it. I mean, I have seen it using another browser, but I am unable to see it in this browser. Strange, because tdol is using this same browser and is able to see it. Red5, I am not using "Quick Reply". I have tried both "Quote" and "Post Reply", but no luck. Thanks for the bbcode link. |

| Also, you might want to check your user options in the Control Panel. Here's what it says about the message editor: Quote:

| Red5, thanks for posting that link. The editor was set as "standard", so I changed it to "WYSIWIG" as you suggested. I was hoping that this would change what I see, but strangely it still does not. I have logged out, and restarted Firefox just in case, but still no luck. I don't think it will help, but in case anyone is interested, I can post a jpg snapshot of what I see on my screen. I don't want to take up your time on this Red5, as I can color the text according to tdol's suggestion and the earlier link you posted about vbCode. And if I HAVE to then I will use an IE based browser (Maxthon) to see the WYSIWIG editor. As I write this, it occured to me that I was able to see the color "button" in Maxthon even though the editor was set to "standard" the last time I tried a few days ago. Bobk, thanks for trying to help. I am at 1.5.07 (the latest as far I as know). Actually FF automatically updates, which I don't like but there does not seem to be a way to disable auto-updates. Here is what I see in "help -> about" Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.7) Gecko/20060909 Firefox/1.5.0.7 "Enable Java" and "Enable Javascript" are selected (checked) in case it matters. |
