Default Why does my tally of posts drop each night?

I've searched the FAQ and this forum for the answer and have not found it, so I hope it's OK to ask.

The last two nights I've been reading and posting here until just after midnight NZ time. After going to bed and coming back here later in the morning, I've found that my "total posts" count has dropped on each of these two days. For example, when I exited these fora at 00:15 March 20 NZDST, my total post count was listed as 65. When I came back here at around 07:45 this morning, my total post count is now showing as 60. Yesterday's drop was 2 or 3 posts. Why does this happen? Are some of my posts being deleted?

I don't know why your post count changes in such a manner, but I am looking forward to hearing from somebody who can explain it.

It occurred to me after posting that maybe some of my post edits (I have cerebral palsy and make quite a few typos) were initially being counted as posts, then the count gets corrected when the daily statistics are compiled.

That makes sense to me.
