Default thread off-ticking

Is there any option of ticking off threads that are new but I'm not going to read them?
I often use "New Posts" but there are one hundred thousand of them and I would like to tick off those which I don't want to read, so that the next time I click "New Posts" they wouldn't appear again.

Hello, Red5!
I clicked 'Mark Forums Read', and it somehow changed the mode, which I wouldn't like...(I shouldn't have clicked it...) What should I do to change it to the one I have used before?

Thank you in advance...
