"big" and "great" - differences?
Hi All,
Just wondering how you would explain the differences between "big" and "great" ?!
Im thinking : Big is more so for the physical - That is a big building.
whereas great is more so used in a less literal sense - The Opera House is a great building ( in that it is impressive )...
What are your thoughts?
Cheers!

If I were you, I'd check out their meanings, first. ;-) The adjective great has more than 10 meanings (click here). It can even co-occur with big; e.g., It's a great big building, meaning it's larger in size than the other big buildings around it. ;-)
