    What would you day "a good catch" is? is it a collocation, or a idiom?

    A metaphor. When you are fishing for men instead of for fish, and you catch a good one (a good man), you've got yourself a good catch.

    a (good) catch someone who is a good person to have a relationship with or to marry because they are rich, attractive etc - often used humorously
