    Hi there,
Can you help me with the following sentence? I want to say John is a highly respected figure and his status is just next to his king.Tks

John is highly respected in his country, just second to the emperor who is the most respected person in the country.

You could say, John is the most highly respected person in his country, second only to the Emperor.

I think most people would recognize that the emperor is the most respected.

Or you could say: Only the emperor himself is more respected than John.
