    Is there a distinction between the words, commonly and generally?

    Yes.
    'Nuclear' is commonly mispronounced. True, imo.

    Babies are commonly born in the breech position. True
    Babies are generally born in the breech position. False.

    In these cases, 'commonly' means "more than rarely; in a significant number of cases" and 'generally' means 'usually'.
    There's one distinction.
