    Where is the s?

    This is another sentence:
    The drums were still beating, persisting and unchanging. Their sound was no longer a separate thing from the living village.
    Should not the word sound be in the plural form? I mean there are drums so they will be producing different sounds.

    Together, as a collective, or as group, the drums make one sound.
