I am currently filling in a application form for the 4 week intensive CELTA course and have came to a standstill with it. The point in the application that im having trouble with is outlined here. the rest of the application has been no problem but i am finding this section really tough. it may be my skills English skills have diminished over the years! do you think i will be suitable for the course if i cannot complete these sections?? PLEASE HELP!
I can generally find the odd one out but cant give an explanation why!
5. Language awareness
(i) Which one is the “odd one out” in each group and why?
e.g. I’m flying to India next Friday.
She’s playing tennis this afternoon.
Right now I’m working really hard at the office.
I’m sorry, I can’t. I’m having an early night tonight.
Answer: The odd one out is “Right now I’m working hard in the office”
Why: all the others are present continuous for future arrangements whereas the odd one is present continuous for an action at the moment of speaking.
The teacher’s book
The student’s away
The manager’s pay slip
The team’s defeat
Many people were killed in the earthquake in China.
The tourist was hit by a motorbike.
The cars smashed into each other.
My new telephone was stolen from the locker.
That could have been terrible!
I think I could have something to eat now.
She could have passed the exam.
They could have got in through the window.
The rest of the application has been rather enjoyable and has made me more aware of the implications of what i am in store for but this bit has stumped me!
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I hope this helps. In regards to learning grammar for your teaching practice-
- Don't over complicate it
- Keep it very simple
- There is no need to go very rule in the application
- Ask students if they know and get them to show form on the board-
- Make the grammar the whole lesson through various exercises before
displaying the form
- YOU WILL NOT GET TAUGHT GRAMMAR ON CELTA!
- Enjoy it, CELTA is a steep but enjoyable learning curve
If you need anything else send me an email anytime.
