    Default one single organization

I recently read the following sentence:

The European Union and the European Community will be merged into one single organization.

Isn't "one single" a tautology? Is it correct to say that? I would have written "a single."

Does anyone share my view that "one single" is a tautology?

    I agree as well. It's a tautology.

What is the real difference between tautology and redundancy?

    Any ideas?

    Thank you,

I think "tautology" is a linguistic term, whereas "redundancy" isn't. In terms of meaning I don't think there's much of a difference, if any, between the two words.
