Exclamation Whats the Difference: Back and Behind

    Hi,

What is the difference in these 2 sentences?

We are at the back of the building.

    We are behind the building.

How are back and behind used?

    Thanks

We'd use "behind the building" as a clear indication that one is blocked from other people's view. If you are behind the building, you are not inside the building.

We'd use "back of the building" to indicate location. "Back of the building" could also mean that one is inside the building. So when you enter the front of the building, you have to walk to the back of the building to find someone who says "I'm at the back of the building".
