    Post go to THE place

    Dear teachers.
I realized there are two pattern about "go to THE place" as I was reading a text book.
One pattern have the definite article THE and other pattern haven't it.

    There is:
She wanted to go to the school.
We go to the school together with you.

    There isn't:
You don't have to go to school today.
    She goes to school.

What difference is there between them? Does the former describe a certain "school" and latter describe "school" as one kind? (not hospitals, not shops, they are schools)

    Thanks for your help.

"the" is specific. Use it to narrow the noun's semantic scope:

Let's go to the school. (Q: Go to what school? A: The school I attend.)
Let's go to the school around the corner.
Let's go to school. (school in general)
