    Default year on year

    Hello.

BBC NEWS | UK | Small town 'online crime hotspot'
"The problem's been getting worse year on year and there's a lack of policing, mainly because it's a difficult crime to investigate."

What does year on year mean? The same as "year by year," which means "as each year passes"?

    Thank you.

Yes, you are correct. It means "as each year passes."
