Question Going Abroad vs Going to Office

    Hi,

    We say,

    I am going abroad.
    I am going home.

    but we say...

    I am going to office.
    I am going to US.

Why cant we say I am going office or I am going US.

Whats the grammatical logic behind such a usage?

    Thanks

There is none. It's matter of usage.
    Thanks
Actually most of us would say
I am going to my/the office", "I am going to the US.

More examples without an article or preposition:
I am going away, I am going crazy, I am going fishing.

    Example with "to":
"I am going to school", "I am going to Paris".

Yeah, my mistake i missed the articles there...

However I would like to know the logic behind adding preposition to in one of the statements but not in the other.

Re: Going Abroad vs Going to Office

The word "home" can be an adverb.

In those cases it's not a noun, like "office" or "church" or "school."

"Abroad" can also be an adverb.
