    Cool Grammar word class

    In this sentence
    Have they been living in Britain for long?

    What word class is the word for long ?
    subject is they, verb is have been living , object is in Britain..... but is
    for long and Obligatory adverb or just a normal adverb?????

    for long - This is a prepositional phrase. We can call it an adverbial phrase as well. It tells "how much time".

    They've been living in Britain for a long time.

    A prepositional phrase can be adverbial.

    Yes, that's it. It can be called both a prepositional phrase and an adverbial.
