    authoritarian populism

    Hi,

I have difficulty understanding the sentence below. Can anybody give me a hand. Many thanks.

Tenets of wha hall cogently characterized as 'authoritarian populism' with regard to Thatcherism were being actively reinscribed as part of the reactionary rhetoric of the New and Religious Right form the early days of Reganism.

The basics of popular authoritarianism (where there is popular support for strong government) were used by the New and Religious right in Reaganism. The term 'authoritarian populism' was used to describe Thatcher's style first.

It was easier for me to figure out what words were missing after you explained things. You're really good, tdol. You're the man.
