    in PE class

1.They had a swimming test in PE(class) last Tuesday.
Q1: Can we use on instead of in?
Q2: How did I know which is right? in calss or on class?
    Q3: Can I rewrite #1 like this?
----->They had a swimming test on last Tuesday's PE class. (in or on?)

    2. in the class=in the classroom?
    Q: Are they the same?

    Thank you

    Hello,

Class is the period of time during which you learn stuff. It can take place in the classroom, or out in the garden, or somewhere else. You can have your history class in classroom A, biology class at the lab, etc.

So when you say something happened during class, you mean it happened during that period of time. If your friend pushed you in the classroom, that doesn't necessarily mean that it took place during class.

    As for the other questions:

They had a test last Thursday.
They had a test in last Thursday's class.
They had a swimming test in PE last Thursday.

    1. "In class" and "In the classroom" are correct "on" is not correct.
    2. "In class" means durung the lesson. "In the classroom" could be during the lesson or after/before the lesson.
