    Prevention & Precaution

Hi, are those two words exactly the same in the meaning?
In the Chinese-English dictionary, they have similar meaning, but are they interchangeable in a sentence?

    Thank you for your help.

    Re: Prevention & Precaution

No, they are different. A precaution -- such as getting a flu shot -- is something we do which we HOPE might help. Prevention is a measure which actually does succeed in stopping something, much more certain than a precaution.
