Dear brettworld:

Which sentence is correct?

Yesterday I [STRIKE]have[/STRIKE] showed you the way [STRIKE]how[/STRIKE] to do this (particular thing).

OR

[STRIKE]Yesterday i have shown you the way how to do this particular thing[/STRIKE]

or: Several times in the past, I have shown you the way to do this.

or: Several times recently, I have shown you how to do this.

I hope this is helpful,

Petra

"Showed" would be best here, thus:
.
Yesterday, I showed you the way....
:)

(Note to self: I should have read Pyoung's post before posting one of my own.)

We both agree that:

Yesterday, I showed you the way....

is the correct usage.

This is the correct form; show, showed, shown. "Shown" is the past participle which we use with "have" to form the present perfect.

Dear brettworld:

As bhaisahab says, 'shown' is the past participle of the verb 'to show.'
Some examples are:

She has shown her paintings in several galleries.
(Contrast this with, 'Last year she showed her work in several galleries.')

After he had shown me the way, I never felt lost.
(Contrast with, 'After he showed me the way, I never felt lost.)

That old story has shown up on the Internet every few months for ten years.
(Contrast with, 'That old story showed up on the Internet again last week.')

I hope this is helpful,

Petra
