Is sport fisherman a boat or a fisherman?

    Hi, all

I am confused with the expression "sport fisherman." Is it a boat or a fisherman, or can it mean both, depending on the context?

It is from this sentence: "because of it's size and wing power, the American dipper can forge in currents that can carry away the average sport fisherman."

    Thanks,
    Angie

    Hello Angie

The American dipper is a bird and the average sport fisherman refers to a person, I believe. One standing in the current fishing.
