    to have killed

    Hi

In ancient Rome women were excluded from social events (except as
employed “escort girls”) and when children were born the father was entitled to have the baby killed if it was a girl.

--- Does it mean that he (father) killed the baby or someone else did it for him?

    Re: to have killed

    Hello Guest2008, I am not a teacher,

but I thing you are right, when the baby was a girl the father kill him, because like in Asian countries the boys can work (the difference is the muscles, the girls are considering like another mouth to feed).

    Hope it's help you.

It says that the father was allowed to have the baby killed. Implying he could have it done by someone else, rather than do it himself.
