Question put you or put the call on hold

    Hi,

Which is more appropriate and why?

May I put you on hold?

May I put the call on hold?

    Thanks

Re: put you or put the call on hold

I prefer the former, as it's more idiomatic. Better yet, "Would you mind holding for a moment?"
