Cool as well as any actor

An actor immerses himself to the point he merges with the character. A producer celebrates this capacity and says:

"That's what we wanted for this part: somebody who submerges himself into the role as well as any actor I've ever worked with."

The sentence first seems to celebrate the singularity of this actor, but later it seems to say he does his job as well as any other actor known by the producer.

What's the meaning of "as well as" here? It seems I'm missing something because it doesn't make sense to celebrate this capacity, thought as a singular one, only to say then it is "like any other actor the producer has worked with"

    Thank You for your assistance

Re: as well as any actor

Ex: That's what we wanted for this part: somebody who submerges himself into the role as well as any actor I've ever worked with.

In that context, as well as means the actor submerges himself to the same degree, amount, or extent as any actor the director has ever worked will.

Thank You for your answer but isn't there any other possible sense more on the the contrary, that the first one (actor) is able to do much more than the seconds ones, or at least that he's at the top, which is not saying the other are worse, but with a connotation for excellence? What you say is what I think the sentence is saying, but I have problems finding sense to it.
