    Upstairs,Downstairs,Headquarters

    Hi,

Can I use singular form of Upstairs, downstairs, headquarters, like upstair, downstair, headquarter? As I checked the Longman,Oxford Dictionary..all these words only have plural form, right?

    Thanks for your help.

    Yours,

    William

Yes, don't use them without the final s.

But I found some dictionaries show downstair, upstair, headquarter, can I say that dictionaries are incorrect?

Do you mean those cheap electronic dictionaries? Yes, they can be wrong. A print dictionary is unlikely to have them in the singular.

Yes, I found these mistakes in electronic dictionaries and some print dictionaries.
