    Default second-class fame?

"Is it the notoriety? The chattering classes certainly hadn't talked about anything else in the past tow weeks. Fiona would now be considered an authority, able to negotiate inside information for second-class fame."

    What is "second-class fame"?
Using improper ways to get famous?

It could be and/or it could be the type of fame that doesn't mean much and doesn't last long.
