    Red face Physically sound

    Good morning!
I'm trying to translate an artical, but i have some difficulties with this sentence.
Moreover, there is not any direct, physically sound (from the mechanistic point of view)
relation between moisture content and stresses.
What's the meaning of physically sound? How is the italian translation?
    Thank you in advance,
    bye
    Gioia
