    sentence structure

    Is "mostly" in the right sport in the sentence below?

    In academic literature, the ruling has been mostly interpreted to broaden the scope of the exception.

    I don't like that sentence. I think it is trying to mean 'In the academic literature, the ruling has (mostly) been (mostly) interpreted as broadening the scope of the exception.'

    The meaning of 'your' sentence is different.
