    Default lord and laud

    dear friends...

I tend to use RP, this book says 'lord' has the same sound as 'laud' in RP.

I believe it is not so. Very close, but not exactly the same.

    Do you agree?

    Thanks

According to Longman Pronunciation Dictionary, the two words are pronounced the same /lɔːd/. They're homophones.

I thought the 'o' in 'lord' as /lo::d/ would be a bit longer than the 'au' in 'laud' as /lo:d/.

    Alright.
