    Hi! I need to discuss this quote for my final exam, and i dont have a clue of what it means.. I need some help, please!

    extra loundness is secondary, imo. The trick is to hold the vowel longer: if it is a long vowel, you have no problems. In the case of short vowels, you need to focus on the consonants just before the stressed vowel.

    It's a poorly worded statement-Extra loudness may refer to the stress and intonation to convey meaning.

    I agree. I'd go so far as to say it's a bloody awful phrasing of the question. What does 'accent' mean here anyway? You can sound like a Scotsman if you speak louder?

    Okay, here goes:
    .
    Extra loudness means that you start off being loud and for the accent you are extra loud. (Utterly nonsensical.)
