    Default THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION》

    Dialogue I quoted from《THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION》
    Red:King me.
Andy: Chess. Now there's a game of kings.
    Red:What?
    Andy:Civilized. Strategic.
    Red:And a total fucking mystery.I hate it.
Andy:Maybe let me teach you someday.
    Red:Sure.

Andy:I've been thinking of getting a board together.
Red:You're talking to the right man.I'm the guy who can get things, right?

    Two questions:
1.what does the sentence "there's a game of kings " mean?
2.what does "get together" mean here?
    thanks!

    (Not a teacher)

"Chess. Now there's a game of kings" - He is just stating that chess is a game of more importance or prestige compared to other games.

"I've been thinking of getting a board together" - It's been a long time since I've seen this movie, so I don't remember if he actually makes a board, but all this means is that he wants to assemble a chess-board.

"I've been thinking of getting a board together"

As far as I remember, Andy have made (or going to make) chess pieces but have not got a chessboard. Red (as he said) is the guy who can get it. Thus, get together should mean put to rights - Red is going to solve it (lack of a chessboard).

I hope my supposition is not far from true.
