    Smile Objective Complement and av

    Dear Teachers,

    for example:
    1. We eat to live.

the "to live" above is functionally adverb of purpose.

    2. for example,
They paid David 4,000 dollars to swim the Atlantic.

what about the "to swim the atlantic" at the above sentence?
Is it adverb of purpose or objective complement for David(indirect object)?

Could you give me a simple sentence containing objective complement for indirect object?

It is quite interesting to analyse Simple sentence.
I love English it helps me think.

Some says We learn language first before we learn the others.
    Thanks in earnest.

They paid David 4,000 dollars to swim the Atlantic.

They paid what? 4000 dollars. Direct object.
The money was given to whom? David. Indirect object.
Why did they pay him that money? To win... . Optional adverbial (non-finite) clause.
