    what is the function of the adverb"in"

    consider the following example:
    1.the summer is in at last
    the word"in"is an adverb,what is the clause function of the adverb"in"?

    furthermore,"in" is a adverbial particles of phrasal verb, is it proper to use without phrasal verb?

    The winter is gone and the summer is in.

    In the first clause 'is' acts as a dynamic verb but in the second it is stative, expressing a state or condition that is hot. The adverb 'in' modifies or changes this state from cold to hot. The use of 'in' as a separate part of speech is undisputed

    (NOT a teacher) (1) You may wish to drop the "the." (2) Summer is in = Summer is here/ Summer has arrived/ Summer has come (in). (3) If we decide that "in" is an adverb, then we would be forced to say that it modifies the verb "is."
