    Talking that...be...

    Hi everybody,
I'm new here. My English is not perfect yet, hope you will help me. I have question:
...that the issue of athletes whose sex seems ambiguous be treated....
Why does it use be? what if I use is instead?
    Thank you for your help

    Present subjunctive.

How do I know that a verb is followed by subjunctive or not? Like this question should I use ''...be followed....''?

***NOT A TEACHER***You did not tell us the verb or adjective that came earlier in the sentence. Some verbs and adjectives require the subjunctive for "correct" English. For example: I DEMAND (verb) that this issue BE treated. (It's only my demand. Maybe it will be treated. Maybe it won't. It's not real. "Is" for real things: I know that this issue is treated seriously by the authorities.) Another example: It is IMPORTANT (adjective) that this issue BE immediately treated. (Again, it's only my opinion, wish, suggestion, etc. Compare with: It is nice that this issue is treated so seriously by the authorities.) Thank you.
