Can this mean "to end a relationship with someone"?

I came across the following line watching a TV show yesterday.

"If you can't sell him, I don't think it is over for you."

The background is that her ex-boyfriend keeps calling her and her new boyfriend wants him out of the picture.

Yes, pretty sure - just listened to it a couple times.

It's from NCIS season 4 episode 15, about 30 minutes in.

But since you as a native speaker can't make any sense of that, I guess that was just a slip of the tongue and he wanted to say "tell" instead of "sell".
Either nobody noticed it or they didn't want to reshoot the scene.
