Default The meaning of "It's nice to be important, but..."

    Dear all,

"It's nice to be important, but more important to be nice."

I'd like to ask the meaning of this saying.

Does it mean, "Social status is important, but what is more important is
    being a nice person"?

    Thank you

    OP

    Yes, that's what it's saying.
