In my dictionary it said "tempt fate/ providence" means to do something too confidently in a way that might mean that your good luck will come to an end. This is an example of it:
She felt it would be tempting fate to try the difficult climb a second time.
I'm not sure what it means by this example. What is her good luck that will come to an end? Could you clear up my understanding please? :-D

The could luck would be to not fall off the wall. She doesn't want to tempt her luck, so she won't try another dangerous feat. She's not too confident, she knows that the providence is not predictable and trying to climb another difficult wall can end up with her lying dead at the bottom of it.

I meant the good luck.

You asked what her good luck would be.
