I graduated ten years ago with a minor in ESL and Spanish. I want to teach abroad and have found you need a TESOL certification. From what I recall the ESL classes were extra hours obviously, but do they qualify as TESOL? Are they the same thing? Or maybe it's just wishful thinking!!!:lol:

A TEFL Certificate is given after following a separate course of instruction. You can take the course at a local TEFL school which offers it or online.
Do a search for TEFL certificate and you'll come up with loads of providers. Some are good and some are bad; take a look at a review site like Reviews of TEFL, TESL, TESOL, CELTA and other ESL/EFL Teacher Training Courses. Online, Weekend & Long Term Courses Reviewed. to see what comments former students have made.

I can't help regarding that as a site to take with the odd pinch of salt- look at these reviews and the dates:

This page strikes me as more probably astroturfing than reviewing.
(Also, twice the term Masters is used, which is a bit misleading:

However, it's not all like that; the i-to-i page has some clearly genuine opinions. It's a bit of a mixed bag.
