    a leap of logic

    Hi everybody,
    I cannot understand the expression " a short leap of logic". Could anybody explain it?

    You are quick to jump to conclusions based on something you've heard or seen before.

    Ex.
    You might think that all Hollywood stars are shallow and lack brains, their kids are all drug addicts and spoiled brats, their marriages never last.

    It's a short leap of logic based on what you know. It's very true in many many cases but NOT all of the Hollywood cream of the crop ends up that way. We tend to generalize things.
    It's possible that this phrase has other applications somewhere else but I wouldn't know.

    It means that it isn't a great step in thinking to arrive at the next stage, conclusion or whatever they are referring to.
