Default take the first leg, you stay on the parallels

"I will take the first leg, you stay on the parallels".
Could anybody explain the meaning of it using other words??
    Thanks so much

Two agents from FBI talking to each other about someone who is coming to join them.
one of them says:"I'll take the first leg, you stay on the parallels"
    Thanks for your help.

Give us a bit more info. Does it have anything to do with air traffic control? Are these guys at the airport or by the runways?

First leg could be first stage or first shift, but the rest loses me.

Talking Re: take the first leg, you stay on the parallels

It's going to be much easier when we have the context
Until then, I'll give it a guess. Since they are FBI agents they may be tracking or following a suspect. "I'll take the first leg" could mean the speaker is taking autonomous action. Meanwhile, his fellow agent and the person coming to join him are to take a parallel route to the subject being followed.

However, context is definitely needed to see the whole scenario. Guesswork, though sometimes fun and intriguing isn't going to give any answers. Looking forward to the context with bated breath
