Hi there,

I need you to help me please!

Can you please tell me if the following sentence is correct?

"Attention: the mode of shipment is by sea". ?

Would it be better to use "be careful" or "pay attention" instead of "attention"?

Thanks a lot

It would help to answer this if we knew who it was that had to pay attention and what difference it would make to their behavior if they knew this.

Thank you for your reply.

I would like to write this in an email to a supplier. I want them to take into consideration the mode of shipment in order to be sure that they'll will plan the production and the delivery date according to the transport duration.

Thanks

Then I would say "Please note that these will be sent by ship; please plan the production and the delivery date accordingly."

However, if they are delivering something to you, surely they are aware of how they ship it you and know to plan their production to meet their promised delivery date?

Suggestions in two different lines:

"Warning: shipment by sea"
"Please recall shipment is by sea."

The thing is that sometimes they say that they didn't know/they had forgotten we wanted a shipment by sea and therefore "force" us to pay for an airfreight because the delivery lead time is too short and we need the goods on time.

I would like to find a structure that is "stricter" than "please..." . Is the word "attention" ok in this case?

Okay - so they "forget" what you ordered?

Please plan production so that the time for shipment by sea is accounted for in meeting our required delivery dates.

I reckon by that you mean you do not want to be polite.
What about "warning"?

Even so however I'd say it is important to be polite, the English language kind of requests it. I think it is important for you to use the word "please".

"Warning/Attention: please note/recall shipment is by sea."

"Okay - so they "forget" what you ordered? "=> let's say that when they are late, they try to find any possible excuse! such as: "oh, sorry, we thought you wanted to use air transportation!!"

Okay, so if I write, "Attention: please recall the shipment is by sea", it will be fine, won't it?

Please take note that we will only pay for transport charges of the goods by sea. Any additional costs incurred in shipping the goods using alternative means of transport necessitated by your own delay, to meet the scheduled delivery date shall be borne by you.

'Recall the shipment' has another meaning I think.
You could also say, 'please be reminded that...
