In addition, nouns function as subjects and as objects, so if you look for the subject and object of a sentence or place a word in those position, you'll have a noun. For example,

    His ideas are wonderful. (noun)
"ideas" functions as the object of "his".

The corporation has many members. (noun)
"corporation" functions as the subject, and "members" functions as the object of the verb "has".

Here's an easy way to tell if a word is a noun. Place "my" before it, like this,

    my table
    my car
    my idea
    my members
    my corporation
