    What is the appropriate preposition to use after the word result, in or to?

    After result use either of or in.

    • "The result of that was..."


    Or

    • "It resulted in..."

    A Google search for combinations with result or results produced the following results.

    • "result of" = 5,480,000
      "results of" = 5,210,000
      "result in" = 5,440,000
      "results in" = 4,650,000
      "resulting in" = 3,520,000
      "result to" = 483,000
      "results to" = 2,700,000
      "results being" = 44,300


    Below are a couple of examples of the use of "results to".

      The experiment resulted in success.
      The advertising campaign resulted in success.
      The advertising resulted in increased business.
      The increased business was a result of advertising.
      The river rose as a result of the rain.
      The result of Ron's argument was that he persuaded tdol to agree with him.
      The result of the instruction was the students learned.
      The results of this experiment have been quite successful.
      I am pleased with the results of the project.
